Spokane, Washington — Level 3 evacuations — which means leave now — have been issued to people living near wildfires burning west of downtown Spokane.
People living south of Houston Road, east of Grove Road, north of Greenwood Road, and west of Government Way should evacuate immediately.
Level 3 refuges extend north to Houston Road, south to River Ridge, west to Government Way, and east to the Spokane River. This area was originally a Level 1 Evacuation Zone, but has been upgraded.
All areas highlighted on the map are currently Level 3 Evacuation Zones.
It’s called Palisades Fire. About 30 to 40 acres are currently burning.
Government Way from Riverside Avenue to Wystokes Road is closed to traffic except in emergencies. The government road to Petit Drive is still open. The Spokane Police Department is currently assisting with road closures and may expand them later.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire as part of the county strike team. The crew is on the ground, attacking flames in the air.
The Red Cross Center opens at 8 PM at the West Central Community Centre, 1603 N Belt Street. Pets are welcome.
