There was one Chris Farley reference for pants this week. Let’s make it two.
If you are planning to go to Iowa City this weekend, enjoy. As I write this, there is a weak cold front passing through the plains, making this game totally enjoyable from a weather standpoint. The weather in Denver this morning calls it the “Wyoming cold front,” which will drop temperatures slightly (I’m not sure if that’s the real weather term, or if it’s because Wyoming shares a border with Colorado. No, we will be moving through Wyoming). Sounds good. In eastern Iowa, temperatures are expected to drop 10 degrees from Friday through Saturday. I think I can only dream of such a cooldown this weekend while baking bread under a heat dome in Denver/Fort Collins.
The weather looks great in Iowa City on Saturday. Highs will be 75 degrees Celsius at kickoff, with winds expected to blow 6 miles per hour from the northwest. The chance of rain is small, let’s say 20%. Temperatures will rise to the high 70s during the match, with the same winds and potential for precipitation. In other words, this is the perfect day for a late summer football game.
South Dakota is an FCS school, so this took longer than usual, but we finally have an opening line. According to friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Hawkeyes are officially he’s the 16.5-point favourite, with over/under set at a total of 44.5 points.
expand: Iowa -16.5 (-110/-110)
Up/Down: 44.5 (-110/-110)
