One company is looking to the future, announcing “the world’s first regenerative housing” in the form of “floating” pods floating on the ocean.
It’s basically a “water world” but with a house floating in the sky.
Ocean Innovation Technology company Ocean Builders has announced that it will offer eco-friendly home purchases and rentals. According to the company’s website, either SeaPod or GreenPod, or both, will be available as eco-friendly home alternatives.
A fleet of pods is already under construction at Lynton Bay Marina in Panama, and the company hopes to have the homes completed by 2023.
Reservations to rent or own future pods can be made today with a $100 deposit, according to the company’s website.
“We are planting SeaPod seeds here in Panama, but our ultimate goal is to create SeaPod homes in every corner of the world’s oceans,” said Ocean Builders CEO Grant Romundt in 2022. said in a June statement.

How much does a pod cost?
SeaPods or GreenPods cost between $295,000 and $1.5 million, depending on what the buyer adds.
According to its website, the company claims it strives to keep the cost of the pods “as close as possible to the average US family home.”

where are they?
For now, the SeaPods and GreenPods are being built in Panama, according to the website, but the goal is to eventually have them in every ocean and country in the world.
How will residents source supplies?
According to its website, Ocean Builders is currently working on completing a drone delivery system for SeaPods, all of which will be connected by smart technology.
The drones are unmanned and, in theory, use an artificial intelligence system the company is currently developing to deliver pizza, groceries, and even medical supplies.
“Instead of risking taking your boat home in an emergency or waiting for someone to come, drones can deliver what you need much faster,” the company said in a blog post.
What is Ecorest House?
SeaPods are not only futuristic and fun to look at, they also help aquatic ecosystems grow and restore.
“SeaPods are what marine biologists call ‘fish gathering devices’. This means that whenever you put something in the water to shade it, it attracts sea life. Corals will grow and eventually become homes for the fish.In a process that spans many years, this can grow into a thriving underwater ecosystem,” the website says.
