Albemarle County, Virginia (WRIC) — A fire at a nursing home in Albemarle County is currently under investigation by the local fire department.
Shortly before 5:15 pm on Friday, September 9, Albemarle County Fire Rescue and Charlottesville Fire Department units called Morningside at the Charlottesville Assisted Living Center on Crestwood Drive to report the fire.
The first unit reportedly arrived on the scene four minutes after being called.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in the laundry room that had activated the sprinkler system. The crew was reportedly able to put out the fire and keep it locked in the laundry room.
All residents of the facility have been safely evacuated and no injuries have been reported, officials said. The facility’s residents were never evacuated as a result of the fire damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Department.
