Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, September 3, 2022:
A high pressure system will continue to dominate today’s weather, but thin clouds signal the approach of more active weather.
These clouds are especially common in the morning hours after moving through the night. It should move eastwards gradually this afternoon, but will be replaced by clear clouds.
Although there are many clouds, there should still be some sunshine. It might not be full sunshine though, as thin clouds filter that intensity somewhat.
Early morning southerly winds will turn southwest by noon. Wind speeds will exceed 5 mph, but probably won’t reach 10 mph. Gusts occur at around 20 mph.
Afternoon highs will be reached in the late 80s. Some pockets can run at 85 degrees, especially if the sun is coming out quickly from behind thin clouds.
It may clear up for a while tonight before it gets cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the evening and overnight. However, most areas probably won’t get any rain.
Evening temperatures slowly drop to the high 60s, and at night, the high 60s.
